Data Deletion Instructions

Under the Zakon o zaštiti podataka o ličnosti (ZZPL) (Sl. glasnik RS 87/2018, Art. 30) and GDPR (Art. 17), you have the right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"). You can delete your NearEat account and all associated personal data at any time using any of the three methods below.

Option 1 — Delete from the App (Instant)

The quickest way to permanently delete your account and data:

  1. Open the NearEat app on your device.
  2. Tap the Profile icon in the bottom navigation bar.
  3. Tap Settings (gear icon, top-right corner).
  4. Scroll to the Account section and tap Delete Account.
  5. Read the confirmation message, then tap Delete Permanently.

Your account and all data will be deleted immediately. This action is irreversible.

Option 2 — Delete via API

If you prefer a programmatic approach, you can send an authenticated DELETE request to our API endpoint:

DELETE /api/account/delete/
Authorization: Bearer <your_access_token>

The response will confirm immediate and permanent deletion of your account and data.

Option 3 — Email Request

If you cannot access the app or prefer to make a written request, email us at:

privacy@near-eat.com

Please include the following in your email:

  • The email address registered to your NearEat account
  • Your request: "Please delete my account and all personal data"

We will process your request within 30 days (as required by ZZPL / GDPR) and send a confirmation once complete.

What Gets Deleted

When your account is deleted (by any method), the following data is permanently removed:

Approved restaurant/menu submissions🔗 Retained in community database; your user association is removed (data is anonymised)
Usage analytics🕐 Retained up to 24 months; your user association is removed (anonymous random device ID remains)
Error logs🕐 Auto-deleted after 90 days
Access logs🕐 Auto-deleted after 30 days
Compliance/audit logs🕐 Retained for 36 months (hashed email, deletion date — required for legal compliance)
Payment records (if applicable)🕐 Retained for 7 years (financial compliance). Personal info removed; only order ID, amount, and billing email retained.

Partial Deletion Options

If you want to remove specific data without deleting your account:

  • Delete individual reviews — open a review in the app, tap the three-dot menu, and select Delete Review.
  • Remove profile avatar — go to Settings → Edit Profile and remove the photo.
  • Clear Eat Later list — open the Eat Later list and tap Clear All.
  • Export your data first — go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Export My Data to download a JSON or CSV copy of your data before deleting.

Third-Party Data

Deleting your NearEat account does not automatically remove data held by third-party services. Please contact them directly if needed:

  • Google AdMob — review Google's Ad Settings to manage ad data.
  • Lemon Squeezy — payment records may be retained per their Privacy Policy and applicable financial regulations (up to 7 years).
  • OpenStreetMap — map tile requests may be logged by OSM tile servers per their policies. These logs do not contain NearEat account data.

Your Rights

Under ZZPL (Art. 30, right to erasure), GDPR (Art. 17), and CCPA, you may also contact the Poverenik za informacije od javnog značaja i zaštitu podataka o ličnosti (Serbian data protection authority) at poverenik.rs if you believe your erasure request has not been properly handled.
